     Peter Stehmann was born on 2 January 1771 at Redstone, Fayette, PA. He was the son of Christian Stehmann and Hannah Barin or Bear. Peter Stehmann died on 5 May 1856 at Allen, OH, at age 85.

     Isaac Stemen He was a little past four years of age when he came with his parents to Fairfield Cty, Ohio. He received his deed fro the government, signed by President Monroe, and has never been transferred. He has accumulated considerable fortune.

     Elizabeth Stemen was born on 10 July 1800 at Rockingham, VA. She was the daughter of Henry Stemen and Mary Beery. As of 1817,her married name was Brennaman. Elizabeth Stemen married John Brennaman in 1817. Elizabeth Stemen died on 15 October 1821 at age 21.

     John Brennaman was buried at Salem Cemetery, Allen, OH. He was born on 11 April 1795. He married Elizabeth Stemen, daughter of Henry Stemen and Mary Beery, in 1817. John Brennaman died on 10 April 1867 at Allen, OH, at age 71.

     Nicholas Stemen was born on 11 May 1802 at Rockingham, VA. He was the son of Henry Stemen and Mary Beery. Nicholas Stemen emigrated in 1803; In 1803, emigrated to Fairfield Cty, Ohio with family.

     Catharine Berry was born on 10 May 1802 at Rockingham, VA. She was (an unknown value) in 1816 at Moved to Fairfield Co. As of 28 June 1821,her married name was Stemen. She married Nicholas Stemen, son of Henry Stemen and Mary Beery, on 28 June 1821 at Fairfield, OH.¹ Catharine Berry died on 23 May 1877 at Fairfield, OH, at age 75.

     Mary Stemen was buried at Mennonite Cemetery. Her married name was Hunsaker. She married George Hunsaker at Fairfield, OH. Mary Stemen was born on 26 August 1806 at Fairfield, OH. She was the daughter of Henry Stemen and Mary Beery. Mary Stemen died on 12 June 1888 at Allen, OH, at age 81.

     George Hunsaker Biographical Sketches from History of Allen County:

George Hunsaker and Mary Stemen were married June 16, 1831 and settled in Fairfield Cty, Ohio and Samuel was born May 20, 1832.

In 1834 they moved to Perry County, Ohio, and there the rest of the family was born.

On October 20,1852 the entire family went to Allen Cty, Ohio, and settled in the then forest, and now the farm where their son Samuel now resides, three miles east of Delphos. George Hunsaker stayed on the farm until their death. They are interred in the Mennonite cemetery in Sugar Creek Township, Allen County. They were members of the Missionary Baptist Church.

In his youth he taught school and was for years a justice of the peace. He held other important positions and also a minister in the Missionary Baptist church.

Former Columbus Businessman Dies.

Charles M. Downey, 52, a former Columbus businessman, died Friday night at Durham, N.C.
He was the son of the late John R. Downey Sr., founder of the Seven-Up Bottling Co. in Columbus, and had served with that company until moving to Durham in 1960.
Downey was president of the Carolina Beverage Packers of Durham. He died at Watts General Hospital where he had been a patient eight days.
He had been suffering from cancer for several months, relatives said.
Downey is survived by his wife, Patricia Hunter Downey, whose late father, Frank Hunter, had served with the Ohio Department of Liquor Control.
Other Survivors include a son, J.R. Downey; three daughters, Mary, Patricia and Frances all of Durham; and two sisters, Mrs. Henry M. O'Neill Sr. and Mrs. Richard A. Isaly Sr., both of Columbus.
The Egan-Ryan funeral home 403 E. Broad St. is handling local arrangements.

     Lawrence Downey Lawrence is not a common Irish given name. In Ireland, "Labhrás is the most common form of it. There is also the varient 'Lubhrás,' the short-form 'Labhraidh,' the older 'Lorcán,' and the Scottish 'Labhrann.¹'" He and (?) Downey *** Note *** That Patrick and Thomas are brothers of Lawrence is just a guess - based partly on the ages, partly on the apparent coincidence of when they appeared in Perry County, and partly wild hunch. Much more has yet to be learned about them. ***. He was the son of (?) Downey. Lawrence Downey lived between 1825 and 1853 at Tipperary, Ireland; Family says origin is Cashel, Tipperary and possibly "Knockinglass".

In Tipperary County there are 3 Parishes with Townships named Knockinglass: Killenaule, Buolick and Ballymackey.

After a prolonged illness, Prof. Thomas T. Downey, departed this life, Sunday, of pneumonia, at his home in San Antonio, Texas, aged sixty-three years.
Deceased was born in Reading township, near St. Joseph's, where he grew to manhood, working on his father's farm and acquiring an education. For a great many years he has been the owner and instructor of the leading business college in that large and growing city of the South, the college being famous throughout that section, for the scholars prepared for duty in the commercial world.
Prof. Downey was united in marriage to Miss Frances Bennett, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bennett, who survives him. Two sisters, Mrs. Frank Decot of Somerset, and Miss Margaret Downey of Reading township, and one brother John E Downey of Columbus, also survives. Prof. Downey was a man of great scholar, a man of exceptionally high character, and the proufound sympathy of all is extended his widow in this hour of trial and affliction.
The body was brought here on the 9:40 T. & O. C. train this (Wednesday) morning, and funeral services were held at St. Rose's church, and interment made in the family lot in the city cemetery.
